TermDefinition
Agile
Agile often used as a synonym for "Agile working", but technically, "Agile" refers to the philosophy or methodology, while "Agile working" refers to the actual way of working that incorporates Agile principles.
Agile working
Agile working is a way of working that prioritises flexibility and adaptability, often involving flexible work arrangements, iterative planning, and continuous improvement, to help teams respond quickly to changing priorities and deliver high-quality work in a rapidly changing environment.
Daily Scrum:
In Scrum, the daily scrum is a daily meeting where team members share their progress, plans, and any obstacles they're facing.
Design Thinking:
Design Thinking is a human-centred approach to problem-solving that involves empathy, creativity, and experimentation to develop innovative solutions that meet the needs and desires of users, often by iterating through prototyping, testing, and refinement to create a more effective and user-friendly outcome.
Iterative
In Scrum, iterative refers to the process of breaking down a complex project into smaller, manageable chunks, and then repeating that process multiple times, with each iteration refining and improving the previous one, until the project is complete.
Kanban
Kanban is a visual system for managing work, emphasising continuous flow and limiting work in progress, which helps teams prioritise and deliver tasks in a flexible and adaptable manner, often without predefined iterations or sprints.
Scrum
Scrum is a framework for managing and completing complex projects by breaking them down into smaller, manageable tasks, and having cross-functional teams work together to deliver them through iterative cycles called sprints.
Sprint
In Scrum, a sprint is a specific timeframe (usually 2-4 weeks) during which the development team works on a specific set of tasks or features, with the goal of delivering a working product increment at the end of the sprint, which is then reviewed and refined in subsequent sprints.
